The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by Victoria Schwab + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday and welcome to the first Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings) + 50/50 Friday of 2020!  This week I'm spotlighting Our Dark Duet (Monsters of Verity #2) by Victoria Schwab which is one of my Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge books (it will fulfill the task to read the last book in a series).  So far I'm loving it and I'd say I've started off the year well - you can never go wrong with Victoria (V.E.) Schwab!

Beginning:

Out in the Waste stood a home, abandoned.

56:

He leaned against the elevator wall, relishing the moment of solitude - right before a hand caught the closing door.

50/50 Friday: Best/ Worst of December 2019

Best - Jade War (The Green Bone Saga #2) by Fonda Lee - I love this series so much.  I would pretty much die for my clan at this point.

Worst - Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle #1) by Christopher Paolini - I was really looking forward to this book, but I ended up DNF'ing it at 20%.  Maybe I'd have liked it more if I read it back when it was new.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you participating in Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge this year?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I loved Our Dark Duet! But the end killed me. I'm still in shock over it months later.

  5. I tried reading Eragon years ago but ended up DNFing it too. It was just boring and slow....

    Anyway, have a great weekend!
