Magical Readathon O.W.L.S. 2020 - Announcement & TBR

It's official! This year I'm taking the plunge and taking part in the Magical Readathon, hosted by G. @ Book Roast.  It looked like a lot of fun last year, but unfortunately I missed out.  Anyway, this year's O.W.L.S. run the entire month of April and I've decided to follow the Magizoologist career path in honor of one of my favorite characters, Newt Scamander.  It requires four O.W.L.S. - Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, and Potions.  I'm also going to take part in the bonus course of learning to operate locomotive trains which requires two O.W.L.S. - Defense Against the Dark Arts and Muggle Studies - because who doesn't love the Hogwarts Express.  Without further ado, here is my TBR for this readathon:

Care of Magical Creatures - Hippogriffs: Creature with a beak on the cover

My choice - Godblind (Godblind #1) by Anna Stephens - I just happened to discover this at Ollie's Bargain Outlet (they always have an interesting selection of books) recently and it sounded right up my alley.  I'm always looking for dark adult fantasy and this just might be great.

Charms - Lumos Maxima: White cover

My choice - Stiletto (The Checquy Files #2) by Daniel O'Malley - I've been putting this off for far too long considering how much I loved book one.

Herbology - Mimbulus Mimbletonia: Title starts with an I

My choice - It by Stephen King - I'm also reading this as part of the 2020 Popsugar Reading Challenge.  Seeing how traumatized I've been by the adaptations over the years, I don't know if I'm ready to finally take the plunge into the source material.

Potions - Shrinking Solution: Book Under 150 pages

My choice: Bedside Book of Bad Girls: Outlaw Women of the Midwest by Chris Enss - I can't remember now where I picked this up, but the history behind the women featured here sounds very enticing.

Defense Against the Dark Arts - Grindylows: Book set at sea or on the coast

My choice: Magic of Blood and Sea (The Assassin's Curse #1-2) by Cassandra Rose Clark - I just happened to stumble upon this duology bind up and I think it sounds right up my alley what with pirates, assassins, and magic in this fantasy adventure.

Muggle Studies - Book from the perspective of a muggle: A contemporary

My choice: Ten After Closing by Jessica Bayliss - I've enjoyed the other novel I've read from Bayliss, and I'm looking forward to trying more from her.

Are you taking this year's O.W.L.S?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog!

  1. I've always been tempted to join this readathon, but I never can get myself organized. Maybe this year! I love your choices, good luck😁
