Happy Monday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting a couple of my all time favorite Donald O'Connor dances.  I love Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, but Donald O'Connor is so underrated.  He was a brilliant dancer and it's always a treat to see him in action.  My two favorites from him (not counting his work in Singin' in the Rain) are Applied Mathematics from Are You With It? (1948) and Life Has Its Funny Ups and Downs from I Love Melvin (1953).  By the way, the bartender who begins to dance in Applied Mathematics is Louis DaPron who was also known as The Ace of Taps for his speed.  Also Gene Kelly did a really cool roller skate dance for the song I Like Myself in the 1955 movie It's Always Fair Weather.  I figure Donald O'Connor walked so Gene Kelly could run.

  5. These are great… but then again I'm biased because I love tap dancing and old movies. I saw the same roller skate tap dance not too long ago. Afterwards, I added him to the list of my favorites next to Nicholas brothers, Eleanor Powell, etc. I agree he's definitely underrated.
