PopCulture Readathon, Round 2: '80s Movies - Announcement & Potential TBR

Happy Sunday everyone!  This January I'm going to be taking part in Round 2 of the PopCulture Readathon, created and hosted by Whitney @ bookswhitme (with some assistance from Lorryn @ Reading Parental) and it runs for the entire month.  By the way, don't forget to follow the fun over on Twitter.  Anyway, the PopCulture Readathon combines the best of the world of books and movies, specifically '80s movies (this round) and there are four '80s movie themed bingo cards to choose from to direct our reading (The Brat Pack, Adventures in Babysitting, Elm Street, and 9 to 5).  The goal is get a bingo of at least three squares in a row.  We can either stop after we get a bingo or keep going and try for a blackout bingo of all nine squares on the board.  Or, you could even try for a bingo on each of the four themed boards.  Personally, I'm aiming to complete the Elm Street board with a blackout bingo, but if I manage to complete it I may go for one of the others.  I love so many of the prompts are great, but the Elm Street board really speaks to me though the Adventures in Babysitting board is quite tempting as well.  There are so many classics!  Without further ado, let's get to the books I plan on reading for this round:

The Lost Boys - Vampire Lore

My choice: Vampires Never Get Old: Tales with Fresh Bite edited by Zoraida Cordova - I'm also reading this YA anthology for Book Riot's 2021 Read Harder Challenge.  I can't resist a vampire book and this one looks like it's going to be very promising.

Child's Play - Middle Grade Horror

My choice: The Whispering Skull (Lockwood & Co. #2) by Jonathan Stroud - I just listened to the first installment of this series on audio and I loved it.  I can't wait to read more!

Poltergeist - Haunted House

My choice: Horrid by Katrina Leno - Just look at this one - it looks awesome!

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice - 3 Word Title

My choice: Midnight Taxi, Tango (Bone Street Rumba #2) by Daniel Jose Older - The first book in this series was so great.  I can't wait to finally get to the sequel!

No More Wire Hangers - Family Dynamics

My choice: War of the Sons (Supernatural #6) by Rebecca Dessertine & David Reed - I already miss this tv series... and as you might know it's all about the relationship between two brothers.

Labyrinth - Fae Lore

My choice: Iron Kissed (Mercy Thompson #3) by Patricia Briggs - I've loved what I've read of this series so far and I'm really looking forward to seeing what's next for Mercy.

Clue - Murder Mystery

My choice: The Only Good Indian by Stephen Graham Jones - I've been meaning to pick up this author for ages.

Halloween - Holiday Centered

My choice: The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand - A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Christmas stories, and I'm really looking forward to seeing how this retelling goes.

Alien - Space Opera

My choice: Old Man's War (Old Man's War #1) by John Scalzi - I have no idea why I haven't already started this series to be honest.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you taking part in this readathon?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
