The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Horrid by Katrina Leno

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

Happy New Year's Day everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my current 2021 Popsugar Reading Challenge and PopCulture Readathon reads, Horrid by Katrina Leno.  It looks like it's going to be a great way to kick off my 2021 reading!

Beginning:

She couldn't remember the first book she had eaten.

56:

Someone was in the house. [from page 57 since 56 is blank]

How are you kicking off your 2021 reading?  What reading challenges are you participating in this year?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. The first book she has eaten? Is this about a literal bookworm?? That can be fun! Please tell us more as you continue reading!

  5. That cover. It is so disturbing. But I laughed about the first line. So far I haven't signed up for a single reading challenge. I usually add a few throughout the year, however. My Friday quotes are from Princess Bride

  6. That's definitely a different first line. A kind of a spooky cover.

  7. Oooh, I've seen this book around! That cover always freaks me out, though, and I kind of hate it, even though I have no idea why lol. That beginning definitely grabs me, though. I have all sorts of questions now!

    1. I have a feeling you'd like it. It's a very unsettling and creepy. If you liked The Haunting of Hill House or Dawn Kurtagich's books, I think this would be a great match for you.

  8. I'm not normally a fan of creepy books, but I am intrigued by that first line! If you'd like to stop by my blog, I'd appreciate it: https://bigfatfblog.wordpress.com/2021/01/01/friday-book-beginnings-and-book-blogger-hop-january-1-2021/

  10. That cover is either one of the creepiest things I've ever seen or one of the most stunning. I have no idea which.
