Happy Sunday Funday and welcome to my second weekly update for Wyrd & Wonder! Wyrd & Wonder 2026 which is a month long celebration of all things fantasy co-hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place, imyril @ There’s Always Room For One More, Ariana @ The Book Nook, Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, and Jorie @ Jorie Loves A Story (artwork by Varvara Gorbash). This is a lot of fun and I've made more great progress so far. Keep reading to see what I've gotten up to since my last update.
❋ ❋
Fate: The Winx Saga, Season 1 -
Episode 1: You know, I remember watching Winx Club a little bit but never really got into it. I don't have any particular connection to the series. This live action adaptation looked like it could be fun, but unfortunately this first episode was more irritating to me than anything. Mainly for me that's the acting and writing which just aren't there to keep me wanting to come back for another episode. It was good to see Rob James-Collier though. I know I've seen him in things outside of Downton Abbey before, but it's still surprising when I see him in something set in present times. The biggest shock of the entire episode was realizing the actor playing Sky is Danny Griffin who is currently Jolyon Forsyte Jr. in The Forsytes on PBS Masterpiece. That is so strange to me. Anyway, I don't think I'll be back for the rest of this series. One episode of this was enough for me.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Season 2 -
Episode 1: This is such a good introduction back into the series. It's good to see everyone again - the kids are starting to grow up! Also, Daniel Diemer is doing a fantastic job bringing Tyson to life.
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
Viy (1967) - I went into this mostly blind and I'm glad I did. It takes a bit to get going a drags a bit, but definitely stick with it because all the witch stuff is awesome. That finale is wild. I was definitely rooting for the witch.

Dragonslayer (1981) - I'm am genuinely surprised how much I liked this, but then again I had zero expectations going in. Vermithrax Pejorative is easily one of the coolest movie dragons I've seen. The movie was a lot darker and grittier (and had more nudity) than I was expecting for a PG rather live action Disney film. If this came out just a few years later, it would definitely be rated PG-13. Valerian was easily my favorite and most interesting human character of this film. I was actually shocked by Princess Elspeth's fate. I would have been traumatized as heck if I watched this as a little kid!
