Dark Matter by Blake Crouch - Review

❋ ❋ ❋ ❋

Jason Dessen, a college physics professor, gets abducted and when he comes to he finds himself strapped to a gurney surrounded by people in hazmat suits. People Jason's never met, but they have clearly met him, and they have a lot of questions for him - really weird questions. Jason is able to piece together that whatever world he's woken up in is not his world. For starters, Jason's wife isn't his wife and his son was never born. In this world, Jason just isn't some professor, but a highly celebrated scientific genius who's managed to do the impossible - he's made traveling the multiverse possible. Saying our Jason just hasn't completely broken with reality and that all of his memories are real, how in the world will he manage to make it home to his family?

OH MY GOSH! I loved all of the what if scenarios the multiverse presents. I think I need a movie or tv adaptation of Blake Crouch's newest novel! I expect that this novel will easily be one of my favorite reads of 2017 - I'm not sure why I didn't start in on it sooner actually. I was absolutely hooked on the audiobook's production right from the first moment. I didn't want to stop listening for fear of missing out on the next crazy twist. I know my review won't do justice to how awesome this epic novel is - I mean, I don't want to spoil anything. You'll want to go into this one knowing as little as possible beforehand. Just trust me when I say you need to read this right now if you haven't already picked it up - believe the hype!

I listened to this audiobook from March 15 - 19, 2017 and my review is also on Goodreads.

  1. Multi-verse stuff usually isn't my thing because the what ifs don't always hold up to a second glance. But if well crafted they can be interesting. Good find.

  2. This sounds so cool! I love multiverses and the idea behind multiple dimensions. I'm so glad you thought it lived up to the hype; it's so easy for these kinds of books to not develop the world enough to make it real and I'm so glad this author accomplished it! Lovely review, Lauren!

  6. I am intrigued and terrified by the idea of multiverses existing....so this sounds a bit freaky to me. I'm trying to read more adult books as opposed to just YA so I might try this one out at some point!
