Sci-Fi Month 2018 - The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Renegades (Renegades #1) by Marissa Meyer + 50/50 Friday
On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.
Welcome to Sci-Fi Month 2018! Sci-Fi Month is a month long celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Imyril @ One More and Lisa @ Dear Geek Place (Image credit: Photo by Greg Rakozy on Unsplash, Quote from The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers).
This week I'm spotlighting my current Sci-Fi Month read (and Fall Bookish Bingo read), Renegades (Renegades #1) by Marissa Meyer. Meyer has written some of my all time favorites and I'm pleased to be diving into her new superhero series.
Beginning:
We were all villains in the beginning.
56:
He would keep training. He would get better. And there would be a next time.
50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Book Written Before The Year 2000
Favorite - So You Want To Be A Wizard (Young Wizard #1) by Diane Duane - I know hardly ever mention it, but I love this YA fantasy series so much!
Least Favorite - The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries #1) by L.J. Smith - I had heard the show was great so before I started in on it I thought I'd try the book. To say the least, I wasn't a fan of the book, but I'm glad I decided to try the show because I actually liked that a bit more.
What are you reading this weekend? Are you taking part in Sci-Fi Month or Fall Bookish Bingo this season? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I feel bad that I haven't read Renegade yet, it's on my list and I have a copy. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI liked Renegades a lot. So different but in a good way. I look forward to Archenemies that just came out. :-) I added you to the Linky. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLol my favorite is your least favorite! I just love that about books and even people, it takes all kinds to make the world go round. Never heard of So You Want To Be A Wizard, but now I'm going to have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!
Renegades is on my wishlist. I do like the author but somehow this one isn't grabbing me enough to get a copy. I did just buy the whole So You Want to Be A Wizard series for my Kindle. I have only read the first few though. This week I am spotlighting Those Who Go By Night by Andrew Gaddes - a medieval mystery from my review stack. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of So You Want To Be A Wizard but I'm thinking I'll have to check it out now! I haven't read many books with wizards in them besides HP and the odd series here and there so I've been looking to add more to my reading list. Thanks for linking up, Lauren!
ReplyDeleteLaura @BlueEyeBooks
I love Marissa Meyers Cinder series, too. I wonder if I would like Renegades? My Friday Quotes and review
ReplyDeleteI'm not taking part in either, but who knows what next year hold.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
I have Renegades on my sci fi list. I love that cover!
ReplyDeleteMy Friday 56 from One Perfect Kiss
I've read the first two books in the Lunar Chronicles and really enjoyed it so I've been curious to read more from her. I hope you love this!
ReplyDeleteRenegade looks interesting. I love Vampire Diaries when I was about ten, but when I reread them as an adult I was so underwhelmed and thought the writing awful. The show is better, though I actually love the more adult The Originals spin-off more.
