The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Color of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my Beat the Backlist and Avid August reads, The Color of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett.  I love what I've read of this series, but I have so many more to enjoy.

Beginning:

In a distant and secondhand set of dimensions, in an astral plane that was never meant to fly, the curling starmists waver and part...

56:

At the top of the cellar steps Broadman knelt down and fumbled in his tinderbox.  It turned out to be damp.

50/50 Friday: Best/ Worst Read of July

Best - William Shakespeare's Get Thee... Back to the Future! by Ian Doescher - Easily the most delightful read of the month!  If you're interested in Shakespeare and you also love Back to the Future, you absolutely need to read this.  It's a gem!  I'd pay good money to see this staged to be honest.

Worst - Stranger Things: The Other Side by Jody Houser - This was certainly the biggest disappointment of the month as a fan of the tv series Stranger Things.  The story is so boring and dull, it adds next to nothing to Will's character, and the art (except for the individual covers) is very lackluster.

What are you reading this weekend?  What was your best read of July?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  10. Is it awful to say I'm glad to hear Stranger Things didn't pan out for you? I watched the first three episodes of the show and I'm really not too interested in it. I had a vague thought that maybe it's just because it's in TV show format but if the written version isn't good either, that definitely saves me the trouble of trying it out! Thanks for linking up, Lauren!
