Mythothon - Announcement & TBR

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my TBR for Mythothon which is a mythology themed readathon that runs for the entire month of September.  It is hosted by Louise @ Foxes and Fairy Tales and there are eleven prompts which are all based on piece of Welsh mythology called The Four Branches of the Mabinogi or Pedair Cainc Y Mabinogi, particularly the first part of the story called The Tale of Pwyll Pendefig Dyfed.  It's considered one of the oldest prose stories in Britain and was written in Middle Welsh (12th-15th century).  This challenge give us a few options - we can double up on prompts or select one for each.  I'm challenging myself to read eleven books for all of the prompts.  You can follow the official readathon Twitter account here and you can follow along with participants progress via the #Mythothon hashtag as well.  Keep reading to see my TBR for the Mythothon readathon:

1. Read a book with an animal on the cover or in the title

My choice: Wolf By Wolf by Ryan Graudin - I've always been a fan of alternate history, so I don't know why I've let this sit unread on my shelf for so long.

2. Read a book featuring the fae or some other supernatural element

My choice: A Local Habitation (October Daye #2) by Seanan McGuire - This author is quickly becoming one of my favorite author's and I wait to jump back into this series featuring a changling, a half-human half-fae.

3. Read a book featuring a rivalry

My choice: Art in the Blood (Sherlock Holmes Adventures #1) by Bonnie MacBird - I'm always ready for a new Holmesian story.

4. Read a book featuring a friendship or with serious squad goals

My choice: Peace Talks (The Dresden Files #16) by Jim Butcher - I love everyone in this series and I'm really excited to dive back in with this sixteenth installment.

5. Read a book from a trilogy

My choice: Chain of Gold (The Last Hours #1) by Cassandra Clare - I'm a sucker for the Shadowhunter Chronicles and this sounds like it's going to be outstanding.

6. Read a book with food on the cover or in the title

My choice: The Big Over Easy (Nursery Crime #1) by Jasper Fforde - Is it weird if its Humpty Dumpty?  Either way this sounds like an epic combination of classic nursery rhymes and noir with a good dose of humor.

7. Read a book you already own

My choice: A Labyrinth of Scions and Sorcery (The Risen Kingdoms #2) by Curtis Craddock - I adored the first book in this series and I've been sitting on this for way too long.  I know it's going to be amazing!

8. Read a book by a female author

My choice:  The Eternal Files (Eterna Files #1) by Leanna Renee Hieber - I've loved her Spectral City series, and I'm really looking forward to jumping into another one of her series.  It sounds like it's going to be a fun historical fantasy.

9. Read a book with a beautiful cover

My choice: The Hod King (The Books of Babel #3) by Josiah Bancroft - The first two books in this series have been absolutely outstanding I'm dying to see what happens in this penultimate installment.  I'm so nervous for Senlin and company!

10. Read a book featuring mental health representation

My choice: For a Muse of Fire (For a Muse of Fire #1) by Heidi Heilig - I loved The Girl From Everywhere duology and I'm really excited to have the chance to start her next series this month.

11. Read a book featuring royalty

My choice: The Star-Touched Queen (The Star-Touched Queen #1) by Roshani Chokshi - I've only tried one other book by this author and I wasn't too thrilled, but I've been told this fantasy is one I definitely need to give a chance.  I will say that the summary sounds like it could be right up my alley.

Are you taking part in this readathon?  Have you read any of these books?  Which one should I read first?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
