Book Riot's 2022 Read Harder Challenge - April Update: An Artificial Night & A Scandal in Scarlet

Happy Saturday everyone!  I hope everyone's been doing well.  April just seemed to fly by, didn't it?  I got in some good reading this month which means that I've now completed the 8 tasks of Book Riot's 2022 Read Harder Challenge.  The tasks I completed this month required me to read a book by a disabled author and a book set in a bookstore and I selected An Artificial Night (October Daye #3) by Seanan McGuire and A Scandal in Scarlet (A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery #4) by Vicki Delany respectively.  Read on to see my mini reviews and what's coming up for May:

 ❋
An Artificial Night (October Daye #3) by Seanan McGuire is easily my new favorite installment of this series.  I had been enjoying getting to know Toby, her work, and her world before, but this took the events of this installment took the series to the next level.  I have a feeling that this series may go on to become a new favorite.  I can't wait to see what's coming up next in Late Eclipses.  I think I've got some great reading coming my way.

My review is also on Goodreads.

 ❋
A Scandal in Scarlet (A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery #4) by Vicki Delany is another great installment of what has been a fun cozy mystery series.  Cozies aren't usually my style, but this mostly hits the right notes for me.  I just wish I had the chance to listen the audiobook production of this novel, but unfortunately it wasn't available via my library or Libby.  I'm really looking forward to book five, There's A Murder Afoot, and luckily for me it is available in my preferred format.

My review is also on Goodreads.

Next Up For May:

Read a biography of an author you admire.

My choice: Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley by Charlotte Gordon - Two for the price of one here, and it sounds like it will be a fascinating read.

Read an anthology featuring diverse voices.

My choice: Blackout edited by Dhonielle Clayton - I'm not all that favorite with a couple of the authors in the anthology but the others are among my favorites.

Are you taking part in this challenge?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  2. I think we often like the same books! (cough cough Jonathan Strange) -- I adore the October Daye series. I think I stopped reading after The Winter Long, but I do mean to pick it back again. Seanan McGuire can do no wrong in my eyes, such an amazing author.
