Beat The Backlist 2024 - August Update

Happy Saturday everyone! Today I'm sharing my eighth update for my August progress on the year long  Beat The Backlist 2024  reading challenge, hosted by  Austine Decker .  You can see my original tbr  here .  In August, I completed 2 books for a total of 41 books completed out of 52 books on my tbr.  That's 11 books left!  Without further ado, keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read in August: ❋   ❋  ❋   ❋  ❋ A Thousand Sisters: The Heroic Airwomen of the Soviet Union of WWII  by Elizabeth Wein  is a must read work of YA Nonfiction.  If you're at all interested in women's roles in wartime, aviation, the Night Witches, the WASPs, or just appreciate Elizabeth Wein's style, this is a fascinating and incredibly readable. I've said it before but I'm always on the lookout for YA nonfiction and this one can't be missed especially if you appreciate Wein's historical fiction. My review is also on Goodreads . ❋ DNF'd @ p. 54 The Company of G

Magical Readathon: Orilium - Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2024 - August Update

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the book I read for August for the  Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Adelia , an additional challenge to  G. @ Book Roast 's  Magical Readathon .  You can see my full tbr  here .  Without further ado, check out my mini review below. Inspect a dark mysterious pool on the corridor floor - scary/ dark book (September - moved to August for the change to the Autumn Equinox to September): ❋   ❋ I loved Episode 13 but  The Children of Red Peak  by Craig DiLouie  just wasn't for me as much as I was hoping it would be.  The idea of this horror thriller stand alone is pretty great, but perhaps I would have preferred it in the audiobook format.  That said, I'm still looking forward to trying more from DiLouie in the future. My review is also on Goodreads . Are you participating in this challenge?  Have you read this book?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

Mythothon: Climb the Tree - Announcement & TBR

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my TBR for  Mythothon  which is a mythology themed readathon that will run for the entire month of September.  It is hosted by  Louise @ Foxes and Fairy Tales  (you can follow along on  Twitter ) and this round (officially the eighth) is based on the Yggdrasil and the Nine Worlds in Norse mythology.  This readathon is a bit different than previous rounds in that Louise created a gameboard for us that's inspired by Chutes and Ladders except it's more like Bifrost and Ratatoskr respectively instead.  Here's how we play the game: "You’ll start at the roots of the tree with the three Norns (or fates). Roll your die to follow the arrows, making your way up towards Asgard, the top of the tree."  Some squares have general prompts to add/ remove freebie books (pick whichever book you want or create your own prompts) to your tbr, some feature Worlds squares which have specific prompts, and some spaces feature a Bifrost or Rat

Top Ten Tuesday: My Archenemies

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday which is is hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl .  This week's topic is a Relationship Freebie.  I was thinking about doing a list of characters I'd like to be best friends with, but I thought I do something different and feature characters I know be my archenemies (or at least just be really irritating to me if I ever met them in real life).  There are a couple of pairs since I couldn't separate them.  Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order by character name: Daisy and Tom Buchanan from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Holden Caulfield from  The Catcher in the Rye by J.D.
