Top Ten Tuesday: Books To Read If You're In The Mood For Graphic Novels

Happy Tuesday everyone!  This week's topic for Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, is Books To Read If You're In The Mood For X.  I elected to go for graphic novels.  I've read quite a few great ones recently that I would like to share.  Here we go, in alphabetical order:

Chew, Vol. 1: Taster's Choice by John Layman

Hellblazer, Vol. 1: Original Sins by Jamie Delano

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal by G. Willow Wilson

Nimona by Noelle Stevenson

Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan

Watchman by Alan Moore

Y: The Last Man, Book 1 (The Deluxe Edition) by Brian K. Vaughan

So, what do you think of my list this week?  Have you ever read any of these graphic novels?  Do you have any recommendations for me?  What made your list this week?  Comments are appreciated - I try to respond to everyone!

  3. Hi Lauren,

Graphic books are really not my thing, however they do command a good re-sale price when they are donated into the charity shop where I volunteer and I always admire the creativity and skill of the cover artists.

I hope that you get plenty of great new recommendations after sharing this post :)

  4. I'll have to see if they have some of these on Hoopla. I've only tried a few graphic novels (Saga being one of them), but I've liked them so far and am looking for more graphic novels to try. I find they work really well when I can't quite focus on or just kinda need a break from regular novels!

  5. This is such a fun topic! I donʻt read many graphic novels, but my boyfriend does so Iʻll have to save some of these for future reference. Iʻve seen Nimona around the book-verse a lot lately, Iʻm definitely going to have to check it out.

  7. I've never read any manga, but year ago a book group I was in read Watchmen, which in turn gave me courage to read the entire Y/Last Man series. Most of the graphic novels I've read since have been middle school appropriate (Smile, Sisters, Awkward, Sunny Side Up, Anya's Ghost are all terrific.) Nimona, Saga, and Thor are all on my to-read list, and I'll be checking out the first few you mention as well now!

  27. I used to read comics, back in college, but for some reason I haven't yet plunged into graphic novels. But given that background and my liking for the Avengers movie series, I'd love to try both Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel. I've also read a lot of good things about Saga, so that's on my list to get around to eventually.
