Sunday Funday: Ladies of Horror Fiction Readathon - Announcement & TBR

Happy Sunday everyone!  Today I'm sharing my tbr for the Ladies of Horror Fiction Readathon hosted by Ladies of Horror Fiction and Alex @ Hey Little Thrifter for February's Women in Horror Month.  The readathon runs for the entire month of February.  The goal is to read horror novels written by women and they have five reading challenges: 1) By an indie author, 2) By an author of color, 3) By an LGBTQ+ author, 4) A book published before you were born, and 5) Something short (short story, novella, graphic novel, poem).  You can share your progress by using #lohfreadathon on Instagram or, like me, Twitter.  Here are the books I hope to read in February for the readathon:

By an indie author

The Rust Maidens by Gwendolyn Kiste - This novel was mentioned in Alex's announcement video and I was sold as soon as I heard it was set in 1980 Cleveland.

By an author of color

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson - I've heard so many great things about this YA mystery horror comedy and I can't wait to finally read it.

By an LGBTQ+ author

The Red Tree by Caitlín R. Kiernan - This novel was also mentioned in Alex's announcement video and I thought it sounded like an awesome choice.

A book published before you were born

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson - This classic was first published in 1962 and I've had it on my tbr practically forever.  It's time I finally see what it's all about.

Something short (short story, novella, graphic novel, poem)

Through the Woods by Emily Carroll - I've had this graphic novel of short stories on my tbr for ages and this Bram Stoker Award Nominee sounds like a perfect choice for this readathon.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you going to take part in this readathon?  What are you reading to celebrate Women in Horror Month?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  3. throughout my reading years, I realized that I'm not actually a reader of the horror genre. but I've been considering checking out books popular books in genre like Shirley Jackson's novels (especially The Haunting of Hill House) on of these days.
