ARC Mini Reviews: Ink & Sigil and Fable

Today I'm sharing two mini reviews with you: Ink & Sigil (Ink & Sigil #1) by Kevin Hearne (available August 25, 2020) and Fable (Fable #1) by Adrienne Young (available September 1, 2020)  I received these ARCs from NetGalley in exchange for honest reviews.  Read on to see my thoughts on them:

 ❋

Ink & Sigil (Ink & Sigil #1) by Kevin Hearne was one of my most anticipated books of August and I'm so lucky to have received an ARC via NetGalley. Luckily, it mostly lived up to my sky high expectations. This series is a spin off of The Iron Druid Chronicles which is one of my all time favorites. It's set in the same world as that series and I enjoyed seeing more of the wider world and how our new cast and this series opener connect into it. It's just as funny as that series which is another aspect I was looking forward to as well. I seriously laughed out loud a few times at some of the things Al had to say, or his thought process. I should mention that it's not necessary to have read The Iron Druid Chronicles to understand or fully enjoy this series, but there are some moments like that awesome cameo that would make it all the more entertaining if you had.

My review is also on Goodreads.

 ❋

Adrienne Young is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors what with the excellent two novels Sky in the Deep and The Girl the Sea Gave Back already under her belt. Her newest series opener Fable is a great new addition. Young's world-building is as usual outstanding. I could practically feel the sea spray on my face and the deck of the ship beneath my feet. The characters are also quite intriguing, particularly Fable herself. My only complaint is that at times I felt a little too far removed from some of the cast when I really shouldn't have. Either way, I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the characters and their world in the upcoming sequel, Namesake.

My review is also on Goodreads.

Are you planning on reading either of these books?  Have you already read them?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  2. Ooooh, did the blog get a new look?! I like it!

I've got ARCs of both of these, and I love your reviews! Glad you don't have to have read the previous series for Ink & Sigil, since I haven't, and I was worried about maybe missing things. So glad it's funny, too! Sounds like something I should read soon, because a little humor feels like a good idea lately. :D

I can't wait to get to Fable, too, since I loved Sky in the Deep!

    1. Thanks, I'd been thinking about changing it up for ages and finally just went for it!

I hope you'll enjoy both of them, Sammie. The previous series is excellent and I have a feeling it would be right up your alley. :)
