The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Sworn in Steel (Tales of the Kin #2) by Douglas Hulick + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my Disney-a-Thon: Team Hercules books, Sworn in Steel (Tales of the Kin #2) by Douglas Hulick.  I really enjoyed the first book of this duology, Among Thieves, and it was good to step back into Drothe's world.  I have a feeling you may want to try it if you enjoy The Lies of Locke Lamora.

Beginning:

I sat in the darkness, listening to the slap of the waves against the side of the boat, and watched as the outline of Ildrecca loomed toward me.

56:

Especially since she was right: This was stupid. Really stupid.

50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Summer Read

Favorite - Sword and Pen (The Great Library #5) by Rachel Caine - This was an absolutely marvelous series finale.

Least Favorite - The Umbrella Academy, Vol. 1: The Apocalypse Suite by Gerald Way and Gabriel Ba - I love the Netflix series, and I was really disappointed to find out that I wasn't so much a fan of of the first volume of the comics series.  Definitely a case of preferring the adaptation to the source material.

What are you reading this weekend?  Have you read any of these books?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

    1. Both seasons of The Umbrella Academy have been outstanding and it's seriously one of my favorite shows. The graphic novel just wasn't quite my thing.

  7. I always think that Fantasy novels need to have a pronunciation guide in the front of the book. I can't even pronounce the name of the area (city, town, country) so I know I will have trouble with the names. Ha! My book is called WEATHER
