Halloween Reads - My October TBR

Happy Thursday everyone!  Today, I thought I'd share my reading plans for the month of October.  I plan on reading a bunch of spooky books all month throughout the month to get prepared for Halloween!  I have no idea if I'll be able to make it to all of these, but I think I've got a lot of great reading coming my way.  By the way, I also plan on watching some killer movies for this round of Hooptober over on Letterboxd - you can check out my watchlist here. Without further ado, let's get to the reading material:

The Adventure of the Deadly Dimensions (Sherlock vs. Cthulhu #1) by Lois H. Gresh - This might be fun!

The Burning by Bentley Little - I haven't always had the best luck with this author, but I always enjoy a good train.

Carrion by Gary Brandner - I have no idea where I found this one, but I'm pretty sure the cover is what did it for me.

The Children's Hour by Douglas Clegg - This sounds and looks extremely atmospheric to me.

Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes - I'm so excited to read this sci-fi horror novel, and it sounds like it would easily qualify as a psychological thriller.  I missed out on this one during a previous readathon and I need to get to this one this month for sure!

Deadly Friend by Keith Ferrario - Just look at that cover! Wow!

Go Hunt Me by Kelly deVos - I missed this one on a past readathon and this would be a perfect time to finally get to it.

The Good House by Tananarive Due - This sounds like it's going to be very creepy!  I'll also be reading this for the Book Riot's Reading Challenge.

Jericho (Lauren Reardon #2) by Alex Gordon - I really enjoyed the first book in this series and I need to know what happens next.

The Last Kids on Earth (Last Kids on Earth #1) by Max Brallier and Douglas Holgate - MG zombie apocalypse is all I needed to hear!

Nightbooks by J.A. White - I watched the Netflix movie adaptation last October and I absolutely loved it.  I can't wait to see how the original source material compares.  Plus, Kirby Heyborne is a fantastic narrator of the audiobook.  I'll also be reading this for the Book Riot's Reading Challenge.

The Toll by Cherie Priest - This sounds like it has a lot of potential.

The Twelve (The Passage #2) by Justin Cronin - I really enjoyed book one and this sequel could be just as awesome.

The Unholy Cause (Supernatural #5) by Joe Schreiber - I loved this show and the tie-in books have been pretty great at capturing what the show had, so I'm really looking forward to this one!

V-Wars (V-Wars: Chronicles of the Vampire Wars #1) edited by Jonathan Maberry - Maberry is always good and I've been waiting far too long to read this one.

The Widow of Pale Harbor by Hester Fox - I've liked the other books I've read from Fox and this sounds pretty atmospheric.

What should I read first?  What are you doing to get ready for Halloween?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  5. I really want to pick up Dead Silence. I was going to read it over the summer, but couldn't carve out time. Hopefully I can read it soon. Hope you enjoy these!

  6. I can't wait to see what you think of the Barnes one. :) And the first one reminds me of the Cthulhu Casefiles books by Lovegrove. They have Sherlock Holmes going up against cosmic horror :)
