Sci-Fi Month 2022 - Sunday Funday: Week 2 Update

Happy Sunday Funday and welcome to my second weekly update for Sci-Fi Month 2022!  Sci-Fi Month is a month long celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place and Imyril @ One More.  (Image credit: Artwork by Simon Fetscher).  It's been a good week so far and I'm making progress on my TBR and watchlist.  Keep reading to see what I've been up to since last week:

My Sci-Fi Month Posts This Week:

What I Watched This Week:

 ❋  ❋
I've watched the first five episodes of Andor (2022), so that's three episodes more since last week.  I loved the first two, but it's really taken off with these.  The biggest surprise with these was getting to see Mon Mothma again here.  As much as I like following Cassian Andor himself, all of these characters are really well done.  Syril Karn as played by Kyle Soller is a pleasant surprise - I'm really invested in his character much more than I expected to be.  I was on the edge of my seat while watching all of these, even when Syril Karn's mom was yelling at him.  I can't wait to see the rest of this series.

 ❋  ❋ .5

How is Strange Days (1995) not more well known because that was very close to being absolutely perfect?! Angela Bassett and Ralph Fiennes absolutely make this movie and they're chemistry together is palpable. The action scenes are also top-notch. If you're a fan of atmospheric and lived in cyberpunk and near-future (now a past future) dystopian sci-fi, this is a must watch.

My review is also on Letterboxd.

 ❋

Aside from Prometheus and Alien: Covenant (2017) , I'm pretty sure I've only ever seen the original Alien, but I've really gotten into these prequels.  Plus, Michael Fassbender is always good and Katherine Waterston is awesome. I really hope they're in more movies together in the future someday.  Someday, I'll also have to watch the other movies in this overall series.

My review is also on Letterboxd.

What I Read This Week:

 ❋

Just One Damned Thing After Another (The Chronicles of St. Mary's #1) by Jodi Thomas was pretty awesome.  Madcap is the perfect word to describe this time travel book and it definitely works in it's favor.  I'll definitely be back for the sequel.  I think I'll have to check if it's available on audiobook because I have a feeling it might be even better in that format.

My review is also on Goodreads.

 ❋

Mort(e) (War With No Name #1) by Robert Repino is one of those stories that it's probably best to go into blind.  I had no idea what to expect of this story, but it's really something else and pretty unique.  I have a feeling it's a love it or hate it sort of thing because it is pretty dang weird.   I love my cat, Finn, but I'll definitely be looking at my cat a little differently from here on out!  I'll definitely be continuing this series.

My review is also on Goodreads.

What have you been up to this past week?  Are you taking part in Sci-Fi Month this year?  Have you read any of these books?  As always thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below.
