Magical Readathon: Orilium - Autumn Equinox 2025 - Announcement & TBR

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's now that time to start my Autumn Equinox 2025 classes at Orilium for the Magical Readathon, hosted by G. @ Book Roast.  I've followed the Novice Path, completed the Traveller's Key, have Geared Up, completed the Spring Equinox 2022 and August Equinox 2022, visited Old Favour Pass in 2022, completed the Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2023, completed the Spring Equinox 2023 and Autumn Equinox 2023, and visited Old Favour Pass in 2023.  I completed the Spring Equinox 2024Autumn Equinox 2024Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2024, and Old Favour Pass 2024.  This year I've completed the Spring Equinox 2025 and I'm currently working my way through Choose Your Own Adventure: Year In Aeldia 2025, The Boardgame.  Anyway, this time around the Autumn Equinox semester runs all of September.  I've decided to continue studying for the Calling of a Scribe as I have during my previous studies.  I can't believe at the end of this year I'll have "graduated" and be a Master Scribe!  This semester I'll be taking four courses: Elemental Studies, Inscription, Restoration, and Lore.  To complete each course, I'll need to earn an O in Elemental Studies, a D in Inscription, an O in Restoration, and a Q in Lore for a grand total of seven books to read.  Keep reading to see what I plan on reading to complete my course of study for this semester:

Elemental Studies

O - Stormcall - Water on the cover

My choice: The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton - I really liked The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, so I'm really looking forward to this historical mystery.

Inscription

O - Magic of Primes: Prime number of letters in the title

My choice: Craven Manor by Darcy Coates - I love this author's style and I'm happy to read more from her this month - also it has 11 letters in the title!

Q - Archiving - Vertical spine title

My choice: Death Comes As Epiphany (Catherine LeVendeur #1) by Sharan Newman - I like historical mysteries, but I don't think I've read one set in medieval times before.  Whatever the case, this series opener sounds interesting.

D - Animal Training Runes: Animal on the cover

Restoration

O - Unbroken Focus Tincture: Single POV

My choice: Back to the Future (Back to the Future #1) by George Gipe - Okay, Back to the Future is one of my all time favorite movies and I just happened to find a copy of the novelization at an antique shop last week.  I can't wait to try this.  I've heard it's based on an earlier version of the screenplay, so I guess I'll find out how different it is.

Lore

O - Forgotten Tongues: Translated book

My choice: The Troubled Man (Kurt Wallander #10) by Henning Mankell - I haven't been reading this series in order.  Even though this is the final book in the series, I'll still have two books left in the series.  This is also one of my Read Around the World Challenge: Europe books.

Q - Ancient Post: Letter or notes on the over or inside the book

My choice: Suffolk Summer by John T. Appleby - So I just recently found this old travel memoir at a local used bookstore during one of their "fill-up sales" when you can fill a shopping basket with their used books for only $5 and it was one of my picks.  I noticed on the title page there's some handwriting: "J Burrow, 7 Wyndham Way, Newmarket".  I always love finding a little things like this!  By the way, if you're interested in seeing where that address is, you can see it here.  There's still a house there!  The handwriting looks old, so I have a feeling J Burrow hasn't lived there in quite awhile.

Are you taking part in this readathon?  Have you read any of these books?  Which one should I start with?  As always, thanks for visiting and perhaps even commenting down below!
