Sci-Fi Month 2021 - Well-Matured #ThrowbackThursday

Happy Thursday everyone!  In honor of Sci-Fi Month 2021 (Image credit: Photo by Liu Zishan on 123RF.com with a quote from Babylon's Ashes by James S.A. Corey), I'm taking part in the Sci-Fi Month Challenge and I'm sharing Well-Matured #ThrowbackThursday (at least 30 years old).  My picks down below are three favorite sci-fi novels released in 1991 or before.  These are books that I hardly ever talk about and I thought I'd finally spotlight how much I enjoyed them.  Without further ado, here we go in alphabetical order:

Annals of the Time Patrol (Time Patrol #1-2 Omnibus) by Poul Anderson - This two book omnibus was released in 1983, but two novels it includes are put together from stories the author wrote from the 1950s through the 1970s.  I had never read this author before, but I really got a kick out of his take on time travel.  It's like an awesome combination of Doctor Who and The Time Tunnel (a really cool sci-fi time travel tv show that ran from 1966-67).

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (Dirk Gently #1) by Douglas Adams - If I ever talk about this author, I'm probably because I'm talking about The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, but I really enjoyed this series opener as well.  Plus, the full cast dramatisation I listened to had an excellent voice cast that included the talents of Billy Boyd, Andrew Sachs, Jim Carter, and Olivia Colman.  One of these days, I need to try the tv adaptation.

Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park #1) by Michael Crichton - In the case of this story, usually I talk about the absolutely awesome movie adaptation, but the original novel is absolutely worth reading as well.

Have you read any of these books?  What are some of your favorite 30+ year old sci-fi novels?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. I had to stop and do the math, because was 1991 really 30 years ago?? Lol. Jurassic Park is a fantastic choice, I love both the book and the movie😁
