Top Ten Tuesday: Inspiring Quotes From Books

I can't believe it's already Tuesday again.  Anyway, that means it's also Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  The theme this week is Inspiring Quotes From Books.  Here we go:

“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” -J.K. Rowling from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.” -J.K. Rowling from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

“We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are.”-J.K. Rowling from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” -Arthur Conan Doyle from The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes

“One must always be careful of books," said Tessa, "and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” -Cassandra Clare from Clockwork Angel

“Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.” -Veronica Roth from Divergent

“Sometimes you wake up. Sometimes the fall kills you. And sometimes, when you fall, you fly.” -Neil Gaiman from The Sandman: Volume 6, Fables and Reflections

“A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge.” George R.R. Martin from A Game of Thrones

“So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be.” -Stephen Chbosky from The Perks of Being a Wallflower

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of competence.” -Eleanor Roosevelt from The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt

Right.  So, what do you think of my selection of inspirational (each in different ways, but inspiring nonetheless) quotes?  Do we share any quotes or authors?

  3. Oh my! You have some of my all time favorites. I pushed myself to branch out and sort of manage my quotes into headers that I chose beforehand. But yeah... that Neil Gaiman quote is an all time favorite! Actually scratch that... you've pretty much got nearly every quote on my Top Ten favorite quotes of all times in no particular order.

However, we only share one author from our #TopTenTuesday Lists for this week and not the same quote... unsurprisingly the author is J. K. Rowling.
