Sci-Fi Month 2018 - Top Ten Tuesday: Classic Sci-Fi Books I Need To Read

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  Since it's Sci-Fi Month (Sci-Fi Month is a month long celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Imyril @ One More and Lisa @ Dear Geek Place - Image credit: Photo by Greg Rakozy on Unsplash, Quote from The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers), each week this November my Top Ten Tuesday lists will all have a sci-fi flavor.  This week's topic is Backlist Books I Want To Read, so I'll be focusing on Classic Sci-Fi Books I Need To Read.  Here we go, in order by title:

Brave New World by Aldo Huxley

Contact by Carl Sagan

Doomsday Book by Connie Willis

The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard

Dune by Frank Herbert

Logan's Run by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson

Ringworld by Larry Niven

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne

Have you read any of these classics?  Are you participating in Sci-Fi Month this year?  What backlist books do you want to read?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Great list! Doomsday Book is one that I'd really like to read, too.

  2. I'm so bad when it comes to classics, I think the only book on this list I've read is The Doomsday Book. Oh, and I've watched Logan's Run, does that count? Great list!

  3. I LOVED Brave New World. I had to read it back in high school, but it was one of my favorites. Here is my list of backlogged books.

    1. I wonder why it wasn't required reading at my school...

  4. I do want to read Dune one day - I tried when I was 14 and didn't like it but my reading tastes have changed so much since then.

  5. Dune and Slaughterhouse Five are also on my I-really-need-to-read-these list. I did something similar for my TTT, just about horror books. https://ichleseblog.wordpress.com/2018/11/06/top-ten-tuesday-10-horror-books-i-cant-believe-i-havent-read/

  6. Brave New World is on my TBR too. I keep meaning to read it, but it intimidates me a little too much.

  8. I read Logan's Run a while back and mostly liked it, I think? I love the idea, I should really read it again! Dune I wasn't super fond of but a lot of people love it, so it's probably just me. :)

I did read 20,000 Leagues Under the sea a few years ago as well.

  12. I haven't read any of these, but these are books that everybody should get around to reading someday. I've thought about reading Brave New World for years now.
