The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Double Down (Lois Lane #2) by Gwenda Bond + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday everyone!  Today, I'm sharing seventh read (selected by drawing the name from my Baby Groot planter) for the My Own Books Reading Challenge which is being hosted by Anne @ My Head is Full of BooksDouble Down (Lois Lane #2) by Gwenda Bond.  I read book one years ago, but I remember that I enjoyed it at the time and I'm glad to be jumping back into the series now.  I'm only a few chapters in, but it's definitely started off strong.

Beginning:

"You lost?" the man asked.  He had a zillion wrinkles, and he was wearing a hat that would suit an old-fashioned detective.

56:

I pulled out some money and turned to collect the rest from the back seat.

50/50 Friday: Best/ Worst Read Of April

Best - Educated by Tara Westover - If you haven't read this memoir, you're missing out.  I can't wait read more from her in the future.

Least - The Master of Dreams (The Dreamscape Trilogy #1) by Mike Resnick - This sounded so cool, but it just never clicked for me.

Have you read any of these books?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  3. I am starting my tenth book in the 'My Own Books' challenge after abandoning one and adding another. It is essays by Kingsolver which was published several years ago and they seem outdated. Hmmm. I may abandon it, too. But I have plenty of books on the shelf to replace it with. I loved EDUCATED. Such a horrifying childhood. My Friday Quotes are here

  4. I have been trying to read a few of my own books around review books and finding some interesting stories that had gotten lost on TBR mountain. This week I am spotlighting Pit Perfect Murder by Renee George which is a mashup of a lot of my favorite genres. Happy reading!
