The Friday 55 (With Book Beginnings): Tsarina by J. Nelle Patrick+ 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my current reads that will fulfill the book about nature task for Book Riot's 2018 Read Harder Challenge, Tsarina by J. Nelle Patrick which will fulfill the task to read a book set in or about one of the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, or South Africa).  I have had this one on my tbr for three years actually - it sounds like an intriguing historical fantasy set in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Russia in 1917 and features a magical Faberge egg.

Beginning:

The rioters at the gates were loud, but no match for the music inside the Winter Palace.

56:

Emilia and I hurried along, afraid to draw attention to ourselves by running, yet too scared to walk.

50/50 Friday: Series On Your TBR That You'll Keep/ Get Rid Of - I've had both of these series on my tbr for ages, time to knock them out by finally tackling them or deleting them from my list.

Keep - The Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman - I have no idea why I haven't already picked this one up since I actually own a copy, the audiobook as read by Luke Daniels, one of my favorite narrators.

Get Rid Of - The Selection series by Kiera Cass - I actually have no clue why this one is still on my tbr.  Honestly, I'm just not interested - I don't think I ever really was.  By the way, I can't stand The Bachelor.

What are you reading this Friday?  Have you read any of these books?  As always thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  8. I have so many series' on my TBR also that I just have no idea why they're still there. I need to do a massive clean-out of my GR shelves ASAP. I remember reading Unwind a few years ago and forgetting to write a review so I'll have to reread that; it's a great book though! Thanks for linking up, Lauren!
