Sci-Fi Month 2021 - Top Ten Tuesday: Sci-Fi Hidden Gems

Happy Tuesday everyone!  For today's Top Ten Tuesday, in honor of Sci-Fi Month 2021 (Image credit: Photo by Liu Zishan on 123RF.com with a quote from Babylon's Ashes by James S.A. Corey), I'm featuring Sci-Fi Hidden Gems.  All of the books on my list this week have under 1,500 ratings on Goodreads, and many much less than that.  Everyone of these deserves so much more love and attention.  Here we go, in alphabetical order by title:

The Black Sky (The Preseverantia Trilogy #1) by Timothy D. Minneci -Thanks again, Mr. Minneci!!  Fan of Robert Ludlum and Escape from New York?  Then you'll need to try this series opener!

Centricity (Centricity Cycle #1) by Nathaniel Henderson - I loved this book's combination of cypberpunk, thriller, and spy-fi.  Like Blade Runner and Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson, then you'll have to give this a try.

Chaos on CatNet (CatNet #2) by Naomi Kritzer - This was such a great sequel and I've always enjoyed near future sci-fi.  This series definitely deserves to become a hit.

Defekt (LitenVerse #2) by Nino Cipri - This sequel/ companion was absolutely delightful and I absolutely need to read whatever Nino Ciprio decides to write next.

Doctor Who: The Legends of River Song (Doctor Who NSA Anthologies #5) by Jenny T. Colgan, Jaqueline Rayner, Steven Lyons, Guy Andrews, and Andy Lane - River Song is one of my favorite Doctor Who characters and this collection of stories was a lot of fun.  Jenny T. Colgan's story, Picnic at Asgard, was one of my favorites and she really captured River's voice.

Dustborn by Erin Bowman - I really liked Bowman's brand of YA western and this YA sci-fi post-apocalyptic western was really cool.  If you liked her Vengeance Road and Mad Max, I have a feeling this would be right for you.

Gamora and Nebula: Sisters in Arms by Mackenzi Lee - Lee's Marvel Universe books (this and Loki: Where Mischief Lies) have been delightful and this was such a pleasant surprise.  If you haven't tried this one yet, it's definitely worth checking out.

Luray (Behind the Last Gate #1) by Dennis Haupt - I'm so glad I just happened to find this book on Reedsy Discovery because it very unique and addicting.  I loved the dry sense of humor and the cast of characters.  I'm really looking forward to sequel.

The Matildas by Dave Pasquantonio - This one was of my favorite reads from last year and it's a shame more people don't know about it because it's so awesome.  If you're a fan of Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, Zero World by Jason M. Hough, and the Magic Ex Libris series by Jim C. Hines, you need to try this novel asap.

Sunder of Time (Sunder #1) by Kristin McTiernan - If you love time travel you'll have to give this a try, especially if you're a fan of Doomsday Book by Connie Willis.  I can't wait to try the sequel.

Have you read any of these books?  What are some of your favorite hidden gems?  Are you taking part in Sci-Fi Month this year?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  4. I love this category! I always find the BEST books from self published authors and I am super stoked I found your blog. I am ADDING all of these to my extended scifi month into December (lol). I have a book that must make this list (or a future one) called “Moon People: The Journals of Lordiah” -it’s a unique scifi MUST READ. Lordiah knows the factual truth about the history of Earth. This includes the creation of Adam and Eve, the pyramids, and the fact that humans were grown on Earth as slaves to mine gold. He knows this, because he is responsible for most of it – lol. His journals chronicle all of these ancient mysteries and he wants to share these stories with his estranged daughter, Luna (who he abandoned 20 years ago). She just happens to be attempting to burgle his home without realizing who the occupant is – lol. Lordiah has to keep his daughter safe and the earth safe in this funny, bizarro, entertaining and enjoyable read. You can read more about it here – https://moonpeoplebook.com/
If you check it out I would love to hear your thoughts
    Thanks again and Happy Reading
