Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to my fifth 2024 Popsugar Reading Challenge update with mini reviews! In May, I completed 3 books for a total of 31 so far this year out of 50 books. I still can't believe I'm over halfway through. Keep reading to see my thoughts on the books I read in May:

All the Stars and Teeth (All the Stars and Teeth #1) by Adalyn Grace is a solid YA fantasy adventure. It takes a little too long to get going, but once it does it gets pretty fun. I don't know if I'll try the sequel any time soon, but maybe someday in the future I'll pick it up. I would like to try more from the author though. My review is also on Goodreads.

Murder Road by Simone St. James is this author's newest release. While I wouldn't say this is my favorite of hers, it's still and excellent thriller. On that note, the bar is also incredibly high for her. I'm so glad I discovered Simone St. James because she's always good. Anyway, this book reeled me in right away. There's a lot to love about it, but I especially appreciated the creepy atmosphere. If you're a fan of this author's brand of horror mystery thriller with a dash of paranormal, you can't miss this. I need to get caught up on her backlist asap.My review is also on Goodreads.

Discount Armageddon (Incryptid #1) by Seanan McGuire is a great urban fantasy series opener. Seanan McGuire is one of my favorite authors and I'm glad I finally got to start the a new series that I've been eyeing from her. The world is really cool. It's not too often that I get to see so many cryptids and other fantasy creatures share the page time. There's a bit of an info dump in the first portion of the book, but it didn't really bother me as we're learning so much about the world and it never really overwhelmed. Verity is a pretty cool lead character as well. I think I'm going to love this series overall and I can't wait to read book two, Midnight Blue-Light Special. I wonder if Mothman will ever appear? My review is also on Goodreads.
Have you read any of these books? Are you taking part in this challenge? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I haven't read any of these, but All the Stars and Teeth was on my TBR! Sounds fun, but not too fun that I want to bump it up to my TBR. :D Good luck with the rest of the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you enjoy it when you decide to pick it up!
