Happy Monday everyone! Today, I'm sharing my wrap up and mini reviews for the Spooky TV round of the PopCulture Readathon, created and hosted by Whitney @ bookswhitme and Wayward Tomes which ran from Monday, October 6th through Thursday, October 31st. I managed to complete 5 of the 9 books on my original tbr so I'd say I did pretty good. Keep reading to my thoughts on the books I read:
Interview with a Vampire - Vampires

I was not at all expecting Blood Pact (Vicki Nelson #4) by Tanya Huff to do what it did, but this is easily my favorite installment of the series so far. I can't wait to see what's next. The previous installment was my least favorite by far, but I'd say this one is the best of the series so far. This installment gets very personal, and does it very well.
My review is also on Goodreads and my Halloween Reads - Wrap Up & Mini Reviews post.
American Horror Story - Horror anthology
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
I didn't quite get as into Smashed: Junji Ito Story Collection by Junji Ito as I did with Alley, but this was still excellent. My favorites include Bloodsucking Darkness, Earthbound, I Don't Want To Be A Ghost, and Library Vision. If you're looking for outstandingly creepy short stories, you'll have to try this collection.
My review is also on Goodreads.
Agatha All Along - Witchcraft
❋ ❋
Witch Way to the Mall edited by Esther Friesner sounded like it had a lot of potential with all of the short stories included in the collection. For the most part, though, this was just plain underwhelming. I was originally considering trying more from Friesner, but I think I'll skip them now.

From - Small town "monsters"
❋ ❋ ❋ ❋ ❋
I'm so glad I decided to try The Deep Dark by Molly Knox Ostertag after how much I enjoyed The Girl from the Sea. This was beautiful and it will probably make list of favorite reads of the year and favorite 2024 releases. I don't want to give anything away, but I became very invested in the characters and their journeys. I absolutely need to need to read The Witch Boy asap.
My review is also on Goodreads.
Penny Dreadful - Historical/ gothic horror
❋ ❋ ❋
Okay, zombies can be kind of hit or miss for me but I do like the Titanic so Deck Z: The Titanic: Unsinkable. Undead by Chris Pauls and Matt Solomon was a must read. I loved that the author did mix real life Titanic history and figures associated with it with his story. I wasn't really fond of the how the story ended and the 100th year anniversary of its sinking aspects either.
My review is also on Goodreads.
Did you take part in this readathon? Have you read any of these books? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I'm very curious about Deck Z even though you had some issues.
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun one. :)
