Reindeer Readathon 2024 - Announcement & TBR

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today I'm sharing my TBR for the Reindeer Readathon which will run for the entire month of December.  It is hosted by Erik @ Breakeven Books with some help from NoelleChristine & MoKristinHannahVanessa and Steffany.  I'm on Team Mistletoe this year which is hosted by Erik.  I've been participating in this readathon since 2021, and I'd say I've got a great tbr put together for this round.  Without further ado, let's get to my tbr:

DASHER - 10 PTS - Read a book that is recommended to you on social media or is a list recommendation (YouTube, Goodreads, Google, etc.).

My choice: Thief of the Heights by Son M. - I've read a lot of recommendations for this YA fantasy graphic novel and I can't wait to try it.

DANCER - 15 PTS - Read a book genre that you feel matches your favorite music genre (i.e. Pop-Fantasy, Rock/ Metal-Thriller/ Horror, R&B-Romance, etc.) + Christmas Carols (20 PTS)

My choice: Blackout (Newsflesh #3) by Mira Grant - I like a lot of different kinds of music, but for this I picked rock for horror.  I've enjoyed the first two books in the series and I can't wait to try this on audiobook since the production was so good for book two.

PRANCER - 10 PTS - Read a book where the synopsis mentions a named special event/ date.

My choice: A Scandal in Battersea (Elemental Masters #22) by Mercedes Lackey - This is a Christmas book so I picked the perfect time to try this.

VIXEN - 15 PTS - Read a book you didn't buy (Kindle Unlimited, Library, Borrowed, Gift, etc.) + Christmas Lights (15 PTS)

My choice: Elle(s), Vol. 1: The New Girl by Kid Toussaint - I saw this YA graphic novel available on Libby through my library and decided to take a chance on it.

COMET - 15 PTS - Read a book that ends on the last digit of the day of your birth (i.e. 28th would have to end  in 8) + Christmas Star (25 PTS)

My choice: Witches Steeped in Gold (Witches Steeped in Gold #1) by Ciannon Smart - This book has 544 pages to work with my birthday on the 24th.  By the way, this is also part of my StoryGraph Res the World Challenge.

CUPID - 15 PTS - Read a book from an author that you have already given 5 stars.

My choice: The Scapegoat by Daphne du Maurier - Rebecca is one of my favorites and I recently picked up this lesser known gothic mystery from her and can't wait to try it.

DONNER - 20 PTS - Read a book where the cover contains one of the first 4 words you see in the word search grid on page 4.  Must be a word from the list + Christmas Elf (15 PTS).

My choice: Silver in the Bone (Silver in the Bone #1) by Alexandra Bracken - Silver one of the first four I spotted in the word search and this is also one of my Beat the Backlist reads.

BLITZEN - 15 PTS - Choose 3 books that start with the same letter.  Randomly choose one of them to read (Random number generator, have someone choose, etc.).

My choice: Every Bone a Prayer by Ashley Blooms - This was the book that won out of my random choice of three.  I've never read this author before but when I spotted this at a thrift shop it sounds like it could be an intriguing work of magical realism.  This is also part of my Spell It Out Reading Challenge.

RUDOLPH - 15 PTS - Read a debut novel + Christmas Tree (20 PTS).

My choice: Immortal Dark (Immortal Dark Trilogy #1) by Tigest Girma - The Cruel Prince meets Ninth House as a dark academia fantasy romance - sounds like this will be awesome.  I was hoping to read this back in October, but didn't get there so better late than never.

SLEIGHING IT - 50 PTS

My choice: The Loop by Nicholas Evans - For this I'm redoing the Vixen prompt.  One of my friends gave me this and it sounds like it could be intriguing.

Are you taking part in this year's Reindeer Readathon?  Have you read any of these books?  Which book should I read first?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
