SciFi Month 2024: Week 5 Update

Happy Saturday everyone and welcome to my fifth and final weekly update for SciFi Month 2024!  Sci-Fi Month has been a month long celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place, Imyril @ There's Always Room For One More, Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, and Mayri @ Book Forager (Image credit: Artwork by Sxwx).  I'd say I checked quite a bit off my tbr and watchlist this month and I'm pretty pleased with that.  Keep reading to see what I've been up to since this time last week:

My SciFi Month Posts This Week:

What I Watched This Week:

 ❋

I watched the second episode of Lost in SpaceSeason 1 (2018).  As much as I get a kick out of the original show (specifically the Dr. Smith and the Robot), I really like what I've seen just with these first two episodes.  I have a feeling this could become a favorite Netflix series.  I'm really pleased that I'm actually invested in all of the main cast so far.  It's cool to see how the modern characters compare to the classic.  I'm especially glad the female characters have more to do that's for sure.  I can't wait watch more of the series.

 ❋  ❋
Godzilla Minus One (2023) is the best Godzilla movie I've ever had the chance to see. This is one of the few where I was actually invested in the human characters as much or more than I was Godzilla's destruction. The visuals are outstanding and so is the soundtrack. Plus, the emotional gut punches in this were brutal. Definitely wasn't expecting to cry during a Godzilla movie, but here I am.

My review is also on Letterboxd.

 ❋  ❋

I watched episodes 4-7 of Travelers, Season 2 (2017) this week and I'd go so far to say it's gotten even better than before.  As much as I love the storyline, I keep coming back for the characters.  Plus, I have to say it's even weirder and probably even more nerve wracking watching this now after experiencing a pandemic first hand.  As for episode 7's Groundhog Day thing was very cool to watch it all come together but also very stressful, especially that first time around!

What I Read This Week:

 ❋
Hell Divers (Hell Divers #1) by Nicholas Sansbury Smith was pretty cool!  It's consistently exciting and I haven't quite read anything like it.  We don't necessarily much in the way detail as to what led up to this point and I wish we learned a little bit more, but otherwise it kept me hanging on for more.  I'll definitely be back for book 2 on audiobook.  R.C. Bray did a great job bringing the story to life as the narrator.

My review is also on Goodreads.

Did you take part in SciFi Month 2024?  Have you read or watched any of these?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
