On Friday's I take part in two weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Anne @ My Head Is Full of Books, and Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.
Happy Friday everyone! This week I'm spotlighting one of my SciFi Month 2024 reads, Conquistador by S.M. Stirling. By the way, SciFi Month is a month long celebration of all things sci-fi and it's hosted by Lisa @ Dear Geek Place, Imyril @ There's Always Room For One More, Annemieke @ A Dance With Books, and Mayri @ Book Forager (Image credit: Artwork by Sxwx). It's been awhile since I've read this author, but this alternate history sounds intriguing. Without further ado, let's get to it:
Oakland, California
April 17, 1946
First Side/ New Side
John Rolfe had rented the house for seventy-five a month, which sounded extortionate but was something close to reasonable, given the way costs had gone crazy in the Bay Area since Pearl Harbor.
56:
"Three sets of twelve reps; just a maintenance program while I'm away from home."
Have you read this book and are you participating in SciFi Month 2024? As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
I've never read this book, but I'm going to look it up because I'd like to know more about it.

DeleteFreda's webpage has gone dark so I believe I am now the official host of Friday56. If you could fix your first paragraph, I'd appreciate it so traffic flows the right direction. How was your thanksgiving? How did you do on Sci-Fi month. It seems like you had a lot of good choices this month.
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry- totally forgot to adjust it for SciFi Month! Not sure how I missed that... It was a nice and relaxing day and ate plenty of good food. I think I did pretty well with SciFi Month for both reading and watching. ☺️
DeleteI haven't read this but I'm curious to hear what you think!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a favorite unfortunately...
