The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Brooding YA Hero: Becoming A Main Character (Almost) As Awesome As Me by Carrie Ann DiRisio, Broody McHottiepants + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books.  For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook.  Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.  As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.   Then, for  50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my current reads, Brooding YA Hero: Becoming A Main Character (Almost) As Awesome As Me by Carrie Ann DiRisio, Broody McHottiepants.  My hold finally came in at the library and it's great to jump into - the sense of humor is great.  I don't know about you, but I love following @broodingYAhero (and his author, @Writer_Carrie) on Twitter!

Beginnings:

PROLOGUE

Alone in his room, Broody McHottiepants contemplated his future.  He was the best of all fictional characters ever created - that he knew.  his phone never stopped ringing (playing his theme song, from his latest hit movie adaptation, of course) with Authors begging him to star in their latest novels.  An endlessly talented man, he'd been everything from a vampire to a quarterback.  into each novel, he brought his incredibly adjective-filled beauty; his gemstone-colored gaze; his strong, strong arms; and his potent blend of wish fulfillment and slightly toxic masculinity.

And each time, people swooned.

50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Movie Tie-In Cover

Least - Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro - Is it just me or does this cover completely change the tone of the story from creepy dysptopia to sappy love story?

Favorite - Charlotte's Web by E.B. White - Just look at that - it's almost an exact replica of the original cover!

What are you reading this week?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Is your book about writing? Because for a second there I thought it was a math book, and my brain just checked out. ha.

I never realized that Charlotte's Web was written by E.B. White... I have no idea why! I haven't read the book yet so that may be why. I always loved that movie when I was younger :) Thanks for linking up, Lauren!

  11. I haven't heard of Never Let Me Go, but I have to say that before reading "does this cover completely change the tone of the story from creepy dysptopia to sappy love story?" I honestly thought it had to be a cheesy contemporary romance!
