Top Ten Tuesday: Standalone Books That Need a Sequel

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Welcome to the Top Ten Tuesday now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week's topic is Standalone Books That Need a Sequel.  All of these standalone books on my list totally deserve either a direct sequel or a companion novel.  Regardless, I just want more from these worlds.  Here we go, in no particular order:

An Assassin's Guide to Love & Treason by Virginia Boecker

Fire & Heist by Sarah Beth Durst

Salt by Hannah Moskowitz

The Isle of Gold by Seven Jane

The Black God's Drums by P. Djeli Clark

Murder, Magic, and What We Wore by Kelly Jones

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto

Zero World by Jason M. Hough

Have you read any of these novels?  What standalone books do you wish had a sequel?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Ooh I still need to read Gone Girl. It sounds sooo twisty and messed up. :)

  2. 'Love and Treason' looks like SO MUCH FUN! In fact I think I had it picked out during my last B&N trip but put it back because I bought something else. I do have 'Murder, Magic' on my shelf though. It sounds unique and fun. :)

  9. I have to agree with you on Zero World. I think the author planned to turn this into a series, but there just weren't enough sales to justify it. So sad, this story was brilliant!

  10. I really enjoyed The Ocean at the End of the Lane and in general, wouldn't mind seeing a similar story from Neil Gaiman. Good choices!

  14. There is definitely more story to tell for Murder, Magic, and What We Wore. I feel like we only scratched the surface of the world in that book.

  15. I totally thought of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, too! Man, that was such a good book. I've been dying to read The Black God's Drums and just haven't gotten around to it yet, but I'm afraid, like you, that I'll love it and it's so shoooort. xD
