Creatures Of The Night Book Tag

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I'm sharing the Creatures of the Night Book Tag.  I saw it on Tammy's blog (Books, Bones & Buffy) and thought that this month would be the perfect time to jump in and tag myself.  Like Tammy, I'll be sharing a book I read recently and loved and one that's on my TBR for each category.  Without further ado, let's get to it!

Vampire
Read - Out of House and Home (Fred, the Vampire Accountant #7) by Drew Hayes - This whole series has been excellent and I can't wait to see what's next for Fred.  He's quickly become one of my favorite literary vampires.  Plus, Kirby Heyborne does a fantastic job bringing the Fred and his world to life in the audiobook.

On My TBR - Blood Trail (Vicki Nelson #2) by Tanya Huff - I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the first book in this series.  I need to get caught up asap.

Werewolf
Read - Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop - The world-building and characters in this series opener are so well done and the series just keeps getting better.

On My TBR - Sinner (The Wolves of Mercy Falls #4) by Maggie Stiefvater - I can't believe I still haven't read this companion novel given how much I enjoyed the previous books in the series.

Zombie

Read - Hair Raising (Dan Shamble, Zombie PI #3) by Kevin J. Anderson - This series has been so much fun, but this was easily the best of them (so far at least).

On My TBR - Terminated (Revivalist #3) by Rachel Caine - I really liked Rachel Caine's take on zombies in this series and it's more than time I read the finale.  If you liked the tv show iZombie, you might like this book series.

Ghost

Read - Later by Stephen King - This was fantastic and if you liked The Sixth Sense it's definitely worth your time.  Now I just wish the cover fit the story a little more.  Plus, the audiobook's production was great.

On My TBR - White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson - Everything this author has done has been excellent.  Honestly, all I needed to hear was The Haunting of Hill House meets Get Out.

Witch

Read - This Coven Won't Break (These Witches Don't Burn #2) by Isabel Sterling - This was both a great sequel and finale.  I can't wait to read more from Sterling in the future.

On My TBR - Bad Witch Burning by Jessica Lewis - I don't know about you, but this both looks and sounds like it will be awesome.

Fairy
Read - Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke - It's a real doorstopper and a little meandering, but the world and characters the author created are spectacular.  The Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair is so creepy and I loved it.  If you haven't read this yet, I highly recommend it, especially on audiobook as the production and narration in is brilliant.  I also can't recommend the miniseries adaptation which was just as fantastic as the novel.

On My TBR - Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception (Books of Faerie #1) by Maggie Stiefvater - This author is one of my favorite author's and I can't believe I haven't already read this.

Demon

Read - Good Omens: The BBC Radio 4 Dramatisation by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett - I loved the novel, but this full cast audio adaptation was awesome.  Peter Serafinowicz has a great voice for Crowley.

On My TBR - The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino - I don't know about you, but this sounds like it's going to be right up my alley.  Plus, it has a really cool cover, doesn't it?

Alien

Read - Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir - I've got to go with Tammy on this one!

On My TBR - The Lives of Tao (Tao #1) by Wesley Chu - I've had this series opener on my tbr for way too long.  It's more than time I get to it.

Superpowered Human

Read - Jade City (The Green Bone Saga #1) by Fonda Lee - The first two books in this series have both been awesome, but I have to give a shout out to the book that started it all.

On My TBR - Jade Legacy (The Green Bone Saga #3) by Fonda Lee - I'm both excited and terrified to read the grand finale of this series.  It's going to be brutal, I can feel it.  I can't wait to listen to the audiobook as the production the first two has been amazing.

  1. I'm glad you liked Later! I want to read that one for sure. White Smoke also looks interesting, so I'll probably get to that one eventually too.

It took me a minute to even realize that would work for it. :)

  3. Bad Witch Burning sounds so good. I almost added it to be TBR for October. I will have to pick it up before the year is over. I am so stoked for White Smoke.
