2023 Popsugar Reading Challenge - Update #4

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to my fourth 2023 Popsugar Reading Challenge update with mini reviews!  In April I completed 4 books for a total of 25 out of 50 books for the 2023 Popsugar Reading Challenge. I've made some great progress!  Keep reading to see my thoughts on the book I read in April:

 ❋
Storm Front (The Dresden Files #1) by Jim Butcher is the first installment of one of my all time favorite urban fantasy series.  It's been ages since I've revisited this novel in its entirety.  Since James Marsters is the narrator of the audiobook editions of the series, I'm glad I made the decision to hear him narrate it because he has such a great voice for this!  He really fits the tone and the sound.  One thing that kind of bugged me that I didn't quite catch the first time around especially in this first installment is the way Harry talks about women sometimes.  I may reread the entire series on audiobook, and I'll be interested to see how it progresses.

My review is also on Goodreads.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
 ❋
The Scourge Between Stars by Ness Brown is a debut sci-fi horror novella and one of my most highly anticipated reads of April.  It's engaging, action packed, and has a great cast of characters.  If you're a fan of horror set in space, you'll definitely want to check this out but it could definitely use a bit more polishing up.  That said I do hope this will expand into a full length series and I'm looking forward to more from this author in the future.

My review is also on Goodreads.

 ❋
Our Violent Ends (These Violent Delights #2) by Chloe Gong was a great finale to this duology.  This author really did Romeo and Juliet's classic tale justice with this retelling.  I actually preferred this second finale a little more than book one.  I was hooked right from the start and couldn't look away.  I can't wait to read more from this author as soon as possible.

My review is also on Goodreads.

 ❋
Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley is easily one of my favorite reads of the year so far.  I'd heard a lot of great things about this standalone novel and I'm glad I went into this almost blind.  I was engrossed right off the bat through all 496 pages.  I can't recommend this enough and it's an absolute must read if you haven't picked up this book.  I don't want to give anything away, but I loved following the core mystery at the center it.  I will need to read everything Angeline Boulley decides to write from here on out.

My review is also on Goodreads.

Have you read any of these books?  Are you participating in this reading challenge?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!
