Books From The Backlog - A Skinful of Shadows by Frances Hardinge

Happy Thursday everyone! Welcome back to Books from the Backlog, the newer weekly linkup I'm taking part of which is hosted by Carole's Random Life in Books.  This is a great way to put a spotlight on books that I've had sitting on my shelf for awhile.  I don't know when I'll get to my weekly featured book, but I hope to some time hopefully soon.

Summary Per Goodreads:

A teen is on the run from ghosts during the English Civil War in this YA historical fantasy from award-winning author Frances Hardinge.

Sometimes, when a person dies, their spirit goes looking for somewhere to hide. Some people have space within them, perfect for hiding

Young Makepeace has learned to defend herself from the ghosts that try to possess her in the night, desperate for refuge, but one day a dreadful event causes her to drop her guard. And now there’s a spirit inside her.

The spirit is wild, brutish, and strong, and it may be her only defense when she is sent to live with her father’s rich and powerful family. There is talk of civil war, and they need people like her to protect their dark and terrible family secret. But as she plans to escape and heads out into a country torn apart by war, Makepeace must decide which is possession—or death.

Why Did I Add It?

This author has been on my radar for quite awhile and this sounds like it's going to be right up my alley. Plus, it was only $1.99 (instead of $10.99)!

Have you read this thoughts or would you read it?  Would you recommend it to me?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. She's been on my radar for a while too. I think I own at least two of her books but haven't read them either!

  2. Oh man I have had this one for AGES and have not read it! And like Tammy, I think I have a few of her others, too! We should all read one at some point!
