The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

Happy Friday everyone!  This week I'm spotlighting one of my current reads, The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. I've really enjoyed Ware's brand of mystery thrillers, especially The Woman in Cabin 10 and The Death of Mrs. Westaway so I'm glad to be reading her most recent release. After I finish this, I'll be all caught up on her novels until the release of One by One.

Beginning:

3rd September 2017

Dear Mr. Wrexham,
I know you don't know me but please, please you have to help me

56:

I picked up the phone again, angling the torch at the page, looking more closely at the picture.

50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Book You Had To Read From School

Favorite - Dracula by Bram Stoker - In college I was in this Gothic Poetry and Prose class, and we got to read this novel. The class was one of my favorites from college and the professor was fantastic.

Least Favorite - The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand - I hated every second of reading this for school. I had no choice but to complete an essay on this for my application for AP English - this book was the only option. At least I can say I used that anger to write the highest ranked essays of all of the applicants, though!

Have you read any of these books?  What are you reading this weekend?  As always, thanks for visiting my blog and perhaps even commenting down below!

  1. Ooh, I love Ruth Ware's books and I have pre-ordered The Turn of the Key.

I read and enjoyed The Fountainhead many years ago, but I don't think I would like it now.

    1. It's always interested to see how things change - whether you like some thing more or less when you're older.

  6. The Turn of the Key sounds like a great mystery!
To be honest, I'm glad that I didn't have to read Dracula for school, as when I read it on my own, I really really didn't like it.

    1. At least our professor made it interesting for us. But I get hating something you've had to read for school. It really drags everything else down.

  8. I hope you are enjoying Turn of the Key. It solidified my decision that I didn't want to live in a smart house.

I love Dracula. I didn't have to read it for school, but read it as an adult and it's a definite favorite. I never had to read Fountainhead, and can't say I want to. I am glad I didn't miss out!

I hope you have a good week.

I don't blame about not wanting to try it - save yourself the headache.

  11. Heeey, I've actually read this one! I haven't read any other Ruth Ware books, but I did grab a couple of them at a local book sale, so I definitely plan on reading more of her in the future!

The Fountainhead definitely seemed to be one of those books that you either love or hate. xD Hubby and I loved it, but the majority of our class hated it lol.
