The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda + 50/50 Friday

On Friday's I take part in three weekly link ups - The Friday 56, hosted by Freda's Voice, Book Beginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and 50/50 Friday is a new weekly link up and it is hosted by Carrie @ The Butterfly Reader and Laura @ Blue Eye Books. For The Friday 56, you choose a book, a book you have just finished, a book you are about to start, your current read, and share a line or a few lines that grab you (but don't spoil anything) from page 56 or 56% of the way through the ebook. Post it and share your post's url on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post. As for Book Beginnings, you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires, and then link up your post's url with Rose City Reader. Then, for 50/50 Friday, every week there's a new topic featuring two sides of the same coin - you share a book that suits each category and link up on the hosts blogs.

This week I'm spotlighting one of my current reads which is my fifth read for Monstrous March, Pitch Dark by Courtney Alameda.  I loved her style with Shutter and I'm so glad to finally have the chance to read this YA sci-fi horror novel now!

Beginning:

The wake-up shock hits like a sledgehammer to the chest.

56:

His parents are historians - old uni friends of my father's - but Alex is in flight school and already training to fly ships in the Conquistador's class.

50/50 Friday: Favorite/ Least Favorite Game of Thrones Character

Favorite - Well I'm not caught up on the books or the tv show, but for what I've seen my favorite is Tyrion Lannister.

Least favorite - Sansa Stark, but I have heard her character gets pretty great the further you get into the series.

What are you reading this weekend?  Have you read anything from Courtney Alameda?  If not, I can't recommend her enough, especially if you like horror.

  10. I really need to actually start watching or reading Game of Thrones! From what I've heard, it gets really involved and intense so I'm thinking I'm going to finish up my other series first (both TV and book) so I can focus solely on GoT. And I've heard it's ending soon so it's a great time to start! Thanks for linking up, Lauren!
