The Friday 56 (With Book Beginnings): Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Welcome to The Friday 56, a weekly meme hosted by Freda's Voice.

These are the rules:
1. Grab a book, any book.
2. Turn to page 56, or 56% on your eReader.
3. Find any sentence (or a few, just don't spoil it) that grabs you.
4. Post it.
5. Add the URL to your post in the link on Freda's most recent Friday 56 post.

I'm also taking part in Book Beginnings, a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader.  The rules are pretty simple - you share the first sentence or so and your initial thoughts, impressions, or whatever else it inspires.  Don't forget to link up your post's url with Rose City Reader.

This week I'm spotlighting my current read, Illuminae (The Illuminae Files #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.  I'm super excited to finally be getting to this one after hearing so many great things about it.  I don't know why I didn't start it sooner!  Since the design itself is quite important, I'm going to do something a bit different and share photos of these two pages.  If you'll notice on page fifty-six, the first "casualty" listed is Jay Kristoff (and on the previous page Amie Kaufman is listed)!

  2. Okay, now I am intrigued. The title and cover have not piqued my interest enough to pick up this book to read, but the excerpts have done it. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  4. I don't know if I want to own this book, but I do want to hold a copy in my hands and just look at it.
I've only heard good things about this book though, so I do have high hopes for it to be as good as people have been saying.

  6. How fascinating. Both my kids have read this, and hate it when I read what they like reading. So I will wait until EVERYONE has read it, and then read it. It does look good though. Thanks for the peeks inside.

  9. I love it when authors use the layout of the book to tell a story, or if they put in things like lists, images etc. in there which purposefully need to tell a story! I hope you enjoy this one, now that you've finally gotten your hands on it! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have a great week!

  11. I hope you are liking this one, I am not a huge fan of the way it's written. I read a different book that was a bit like it and I didn't like it. I found out I prefer just regular old written style. :)
